The JOURNAL: a space dedicated to in-depth analysis and broader reflections on the world of the double bass. Every month, we will publish new articles in which you can actively participate. In fact, you have the opportunity to propose a topic or write your own contribution, which we will be happy to send out and share through this newsletter.
Bonifacio Asioli was an Italian composer and pedagogue, renowned for his double bass method based on a compact fingering system (1st finger and 2nd+3rd together) that prioritizes stability, intonation, and harmonic function. His technical approach is always at the service of musicality, and the Asioli Collection preserves manuscripts, exercises, vocal works, and historical instruments. Consult the full book “Elementi per il contrabbasso con una nuova maniera di diteggiare” available within the article.
